Hi there many utensils are made from wood and not metal because:
* metal utensils are more expensive to make * If you use non stick pots / pans metal utensils can scratch the non stick layer off * wood is a poorer conductor of heat so it does not get hot like metal utensils
We do us cooking utensils made of wood, for example wooden spoons. My guess is that there isn't more of them because they are flammable but I don't there's any real danger with using them besides that.
