Enzymes are biological catalysts that speed up the rate of all reactions that take place in the cells e.g protein synthesis and the break down of sugars and carbohydrates for the release of energy that is needed for all vital activities of the cells

an enzyme is a substance produced by a living organism that acts as a catalyst to bring about a specific biochemical reaction and they are important to cells because enzymes make everything work, they are made up of proteins and are used in almost every kind of reaction in the body hope this helps!!

How do cells regulate enzymes?

There are two ways wherein cells regulate the activity of enzymes. These involve controlling the amount of the enzyme and controlling the activity level of the enzyme.

Why is enzyme amplification so important?

Enzyme Amplification is the production of thousands of enzymes via the bondage of a hormone to a receptor protein. As enzymes are essential to chemical reactions within cells there needs to be a substantial amount to maintain the basal metabolic rate. Thus if only one Enzyme was produced to every hormone molecule there would not be a sufficient number of enzymes to sustain cell life (also due to the saturation of receptor proteins). Basically without enzyme amplification there would not be enough enzymes produces to enable enough chemical reactions to sustain cellular life.

What type of a molecule are enzymes?

Enzymes are proteins, which are made from smaller sub-units called amino acids. The amino acid sequence for various proteins is coded for by the DNA, and the amino acids are put together, according to this sequence, by the ribosomes. Enzymes have an active site, which is a particular portion of the protein that is responsible for carrying out the reaction. There are lots of enzymes in cells. Some enzymes are only expressed in certain cells where they are needed - this is partly what makes cells differentiated from other cell types. For example, liver cells will need different enzymes to skin or brain cells in order to carry out their specialised functions.

Why are temperatures and pH important to enzyme function?

Enzymes function optimally at a patricular temperature and pH. If the temperature is decreased or increased, the enzyme will not function as effectively. The enzyme is most active only at a patricular temperature and pH. Hence, these two factors are very important for enzyme action.

What is a sentence with enzymes?

Enzymes can be used in a sentence as such. Enzymes play an important role in our life.
