Rhinos are in trouble because of the false notion that the horn has healing powers.People continue to poach these animals,despite measures to prevent it.Habitat loss really is not a great threat to rhinos,but the poaching is the major threat these great beasts face.More must be done to protect them.
Rhinos are poached for their valuable horn, used in quack medicine making.

Poachers hunted this species to near extinction, for their horn, which was used in quack medicines, and brought an enormous price. The West African race of the black rhino was recently declared extinct in the wild, but other races are slowly increasing, the wild populatipn was over 4000 in 2008.

Greedy Poachers kill the Black Rhino for their horns.

Their horns are made of ivory, which now sells for around $200 - $350 per kilo.
