George Burns (January 20, 1896 - March 9, 1996), born Nathan Birnbaum. Their parents were Jewish immigrants from Romania, and there were 12 siblings - 7 sisters and 4 brothers. Their father died in 1903.

William "Willie" Burns (12 March 1902 -- 20 January 1966) was youngest brother. He wrote television scripts and collaborated with George on several projects.

Izzy Birnbaum was another brother. He gave the name "George" to his brother "Nat".
