Well that depends. Here is the thing, the first draft was held in 1947 but back then the NBA was known as the BAA (Basketball Association of America). The first pick of that draft was Clifton McNeely and he went to the Pittsburgh Ironmen. In 1950 the BAA was renamed the National Basketball Association or NBA as we know it now. The first pick of that draft was Chuck Shane and he was drafted by the Boston Celtics.
