Joshua L. Martin (born December 5, 1799 in Blount County, Tennessee; died November 2, 1856 in Tuscaloosa, Georgia) succeeded Benjamin Fitzpatrick as the twelfth Governor of Alabama, serving between December 10, 1845 and December 16, 1847. Following the end of Martin's term in office, Reuben Chapman (born July 15, 1799; died May 16, 1882) became the thirteenth Governor of Alabama, serving between December 16, 1847 and December 17, 1849.
