In 1950's a series directed by Sheldon Reynolds - Ronald Howard [the son of Trevor Howard] was Holmes with H. Marion Crawford as Watson. Yes but there is also the even older and classical black and white series, starring Basil Rathbone as Sherlock and Nigel Bruce as Watson. Dennis Hoey as Lestrade and three other actors play Moriarty; Lionel Atwill, George Zucco and Henry Daniell (the best in my opinon!).
