Alpha Condé is the President of Guinea. He became the President on 2010 December 21.

Presidential Elections were held in 2010 on June 27 with a run-off on November 7, with Condé coming out a close winner over other candidate Cellou Dalein Diallo. Condé is considered the first democratically elected leader of Guinea in truly credible elections.
Old Guinea currently is ruled by a tyrant who has prevented the common public from the knowledge of his identity. New Guinea, however, has a president who currently is Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo (jeez, I wonder how his teacher managed to get through attendance).

Carlos Domingos Gomes Junior was the Prime Minister of Guinea Bissau in 2011.

Gomes once again became the Prime Minister of Guinea Bissau on 2009 January 2, serving until 2012 February 10. This was his second time as Prime Minister. Gomes was also Prime Minister from 2004 May 10 to 2005 November 2, but he was dismissed over an inability to work with President Vieira.

In 2007, Gomes accused Vieira of complicity in the assassination of Mohamed Sanha, a Navy official. When attempts were made to arrest Gomes for the statements, Gomes fled to the UN building for sanctuary. The charges were later dropped.

In 2008 Gomes was once again elected. Vieira appointed Gomes as the Prime Minister, stating that the two would put aside personal differences. However, shortly after on 2009 March 2, Vieira was assassinated by the military. In 2010, there was military unrest, and Gomes was put under house arrest by the military. After several months, Gomes returned to the position, though democracy and stability both remained shaky in Guinea Bissau.

On 2012 February 10, Gomes resigned to run for president. He won the first round, but the run-off election was disrupted by the military who took Gomes and other leaders captive. They were released to the Ivory Coast a few weeks later, with the military remaining in control of the country.
