Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him also is named in Quran as the first Muslim per Quran revelation to him by God through the angel Gabriel (Jibril).
Quran says (meaning English translation):
"Say (O Muhammad SAW): 'Shall I take as a Wali (helper, protector, etc.) any other than Allah, the Creator of the heavens and the earth? And it is He Who feeds but is not fed.' Say: 'Verily, I am commanded to be the first of those who submit themselves to Allah (as Muslims)'. And be not you (O Muhammad SAW) of the Mushrikun [polytheists, pagans, idolaters and disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah"

and Quran says also:
"Say (O Muhammad SAW): 'Verily, my Salat (prayer), my sacrifice, my living, and my dying are for Allah, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). (162) He has no partner. And of this I have been commanded, and I (Muhammad) am the first of the Muslims'."
