Caligula was the third Julio-Claudian emperor. He is known for his erratic actions and immaturity. Some say he was mad. Most significant for the empire, though, was that he was the first emperor to be assassinated, the beginning of a dangerous trend in the Praetorian Guard.
I believe Caligula was a Roman Emperor who was a complete freak, in every sense of the word. He obtained power by (apparently) murdering his great uncle, he abused his power as emperor for pleasure instead of helping those of the Roman Empire and he also raped his three sisters.

Caligula( so called meaning little boot) was empower for 4 years or so. He was the grandson of livia who was married to empower Augustus. His uncle was claudius who was considered a fool and idiot but who proved to be a good empower when his time came. Caligula was undoubtedly insane, supposedly killing his father but making him thing he was bewitched and provisioning him at the same time. He also supposedly killed Tiberius to become emporer. Once in power he was ruthless and unpredictable. He married his favorite sister, drucilla, and slept with his other sisters as well. When money was needed for the treasury he forced the wives of the senators to work as prostitutes and took a hearty commission off their earnings. He made war on Neptune, bringing shells back as treasury booty, and was known to lop off the heads of any one who complained about his continual games in the colluseaum. After a long, unexplained illness he declared he was a god. The senate did nothing to this announcement, and he continued to behave unpredictably and murder as he felt like it. On learning his sister/wife was pregnant, he enacted the mystery of Zeus and cut the baby from her womb and swallowed it whole. He was eventually killed by members of the senate who has gad enough. He was stabbed and his body abused. His death paved the way for c Laudius to become emporer

His proper name was Gaius Julius Caesar Agustus Germanicus. Caligula was a nickname meaning Little Boot, which his father's soldiers gave to him. He was the third emperor of Rome and the first to be assassinated. Historians say he was mad, and its entirely possible. He definitely was immature and an egomaniac.
