As a result, many Amazigh are trilingual (Darija, French, and their own Amazigh dialects like Takbaylit, Tachawit in Algeria and Tarifit, Tasousit in Morocco).

Christianity had a significant presence among the Berber people of North Africa in the early centuries, especially in regions like Numidia. When did Berber women got more rights?

This response will use the term Amazigh which is the proper term for Berber. It depends entirely on the country, what is meant by "more rights", and which distinguishing factor is more important (Amazigh or Woman). With the exception of Morocco and Tunisia, Amazigh women in most North African countries (Algeria, Mauritania, and Libya) have minimal rights. Moroccan rights that extend to all women have had a harder time penetrating the mountains where the larger Amazigh communities are (since they are farther from the coastal cities). Women's rights, especially among Amazigh, are slow to change and most Amazigh women are still treated differently and less than the male members of their community. Of course, there are certainly strong Amazigh women, but by and large they are far away from equality.

What is a Berber?

Berber has two meanings.1) Ethnic Group: The Amazigh or Berber people (historically called Moors) are the native peoples of Northern Africa prior to the conquest of the area by the Arabs. They still represent roughly 30 million North Africans across nine North African countries (Morocco, Algeria, Niger, Mali, Libya, Mauritania, Tunisia, Burkina Faso, and Egypt) and France. Many of the Arabs in these same nations have significant percentages of Amazigh ancestry, but because they live in Arab-majority areas and speak Arabic as opposed to distinct Amazigh languages, they are considered Arabs, not Amazigh. The Amazigh have skin colors which range between "White", being indistinguishable from French people, along the northern edges of the Atlas Mountain Ranges, to "Black", being indistinguishable from other Africans, among the southern desert Amazigh or Tuareg. The Amazigh live as family clans, usually strongly resistant towards modernity. As a primarily mountain and desert people due to being pushed out of coastal or lowland territories by Arabs, the Amazigh are fiercely independent and find it hard to even unite with other Amazigh Tribes.2) Carpet Material: Berber carpets are a modern style of carpet with a scratchy texture, distinguished by a loop pile construction type that gives a similar appearance to the distinct knot of traditionally woven Berber carpets, while being industrially produced.
