This was Hans Christian Ørsted. April 1820 - Copenhagen.

He found that a compass needle could be deflected (it moved) if a current was switched on or off in a nearby conductor. This was the first demonstrated link between electricity and magnetism, later taken up in detail by Michael Faraday.

Oersted did not develop his experiment into an electric motor, though it is the basic idea on which all motors work - the interaction of an electric current with a magnet (usually in modern motors an electromagnet of some kind) to produce a force, and thus a movement.

A Scientist called Hans Christian Oersted is the inventor of the magnetic effect of the electric current. The Scientist who was Danish is the one who discovered the magnetic effect of the electric current.

Comment Oersted didn't 'invent' this effect; he is credited with 'discovering' it. The effect was present long before it was discovered!

Magnetism electricity (electromagnetism) was not invented;it was discovered in the year 1820 by a Danish physicist,Hans Christian Oersted. He discovered that a current carrying wire could behave like a magnet. He thus, discovered that there is a corelation between electricity(i.e.,electric currents). Earlier on, people had thought that electricity and magnetism are independent (of each other) phenomenon. Oersted's discovery showed that this is not so and we can use electric currents to produce magnetic effects.

What is a magnetic field will be produced at some point in space if the electric field at the point?

As far as the electric field is stationary then no magnetic field. But when electric field is moving at a uniform speed then a magnetic field will be produced. This is what we call Lorentz magnetic field.

Can a changing magnetic field produce a steady electric field?

Not a steady but a moving electric field can be produced by ever changing magnetic field.

How is an EM wave produced?

By the interactions of Electric and Magnetic fields perpendicular to it.

What are the physical significance of Maxwell's equations?

As per my knowledge,Maxwell's equations describes the relations between changing electric and magnetic fields. That means time varying electric field can be produced by time varying magnetic field and time varying magnetic field can be produced by time varying electric field.

What does a magnetoencephalography do?

It measures the magnetic fields produced by nerve cells and their electric currents

When ac passes through a conductor which fields are produced a magnetic field or an electric field?

when ac passes through a conductor, the field produced is an electric field

How are electric currents and magnetism related?

Magnetism could be produced due to the flow of electrical current. This was first discovered by Oersted. By changing the magnetic flux linked with a coil electric current could be induced. This was first studied by Michael Faraday. Just due to the orbital motion or spin motion of electron magnetism is produced in tiny form and is known as magnetic dipoles. Such dipoles getting oriented in different form lead to form dia, para and ferro magnetic materials.

How do magnets magnetic fields electric currents and metals connect?

Well when an electric current flows through a conductor a magnetic field is produced. And a changing magnetic flux through a conductor produces a current in the conductor.

The direction of a magnetic field produced by an electric current depends on the direction of the what?

Flow of the current.
