She knows that her husband takes great pride in his position as supposedly all-knowing father, husband and ruler. She cracks that facade when she shows the truth to their married life. Haemon defies his royal father by refusing to give up his cousin and bride-to-be, Antigone. King Creon claims that all women are replaceable. Haemon shows the truth to the royal family life when he commits suicide rather than end his betrothal to his beloved.
