Basically, the Postmaster General (PMG) is the chief executive officer and is named by, and serves at the pleasure of, the USPS Board of Governors, as does the deputy PMG. The Board of Governors oversee the Post Office, now know as the Postal Service. Nine of the 11 Governors of the Board are appointed by the President of the United States, plus the PMG and Deputy PMG.
