There is no such thing as a purely "US" English alphabet, other than perhaps the US pronunciation of the last letter, Z, zed. The present English alphabet has been in use since Shakespeare's time (there were 3 letters used in Old English which survived to around Shakespeare's time, in some cases dropped when printing presses were introduced, and the source of the incorrect "Ye" word ).

∙ 7y agoThe modern English alphabet is based on the Latin/Roman alphabet, which in turn was developed from western Greek called Cumaean, by the Romans. The English Alphabet was adapted by early English monks.
This traces a lineage through Phoenician, Proto-Canaanite and Proto-Sinaitic back to Egyptian hieroglyphics, which were developed by the earliest peoples in Egypt, probably with influence by Cuneiform (the oldest written language).

∙ 6y agoThe first phonetic writing system was invented by the Phoenicians, sometime prior to 1050 BCE, but this system was not a pure alphabet because it didn't include symbols for vowels.
The first pure alphabet was invented by the Greeks around the 8th century BCE.
