The European people who colonized Tanzania were the Germans in the 1600s and the British in 1890 took it over as a protectorate. Before the Europeans the Arabs in the eighth century came to this part of East Africa.

The Colonialists wanted minerals and abundant land for plantations. In addition to that they wanted cheap labour. SO that they could expand their industries , hence they came to Tanzania and transformed the Masai Tribe etc to workers and shunted them away from their land and establishing the famous Serengeti and Masai Mara National Parks .Also Arabs went to Tanzania in search of spices and Indians for trade. You can get a lot of information on Wikipedia too !
