Its mainly common in men and women over 50 but from experience, 11 year olds can get it too! ( yes i am 12 and i had shingles at the start of year 7). the only reason young people get it is if they had chicken pox under the age of 1 year old and it hasn't completely gone away.

No body catch the shingles. You can transmit the infection in non-immunized individual to give him chicken pox. This happen rather uncommonly. Though the fluid from shingles is highly contagious.
