A common video graphic adapter (VGA) has 15 pins. This has been thestandard for at least 20 years. Many new monitors come with HDMIconnections today.
Is there a stock cable that is USB on one end with the connector being a 15 pin female connector going to a monitor The female connector on my Toshiba laptop has a pin broken off in it.?
You're looking for a USB to VGA cable, like the one at the following link http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812200034 You should be able to find ch…eaper ones perhaps through eBay or Google shopping, but New Egg is a trusted seller, if you are looking for a guarentee
Which type of video connector has 24-PIN or a 29-PIN female connector and provides a compressed digital output to a monitor?
Both. It depends on the device.
Assuming you mean the "D" shell connector used for computer "VGA" connections to a monitor. It's a D shell (physical appearance), E size, 15 connectors, So it's correctly… called a DE15, but is often misnamed "DB15" - which it's not. To lessen confusion, many people just refer to it as the "VGA" connector. The common "DB" naming only applies (correctly) to the larger shell size commonly used for the 25-pin DB-25 connector. The small 9-pin D connector is correctly called DE-9.
Which type of video connector has a 24-pin or an 29-pin female connector and provides a compressed digital output to a monitor?
Four + shield. S-Video is a step-up from Composite video which uses only two pins to transmit a composite (which means luminance (brightness) and chroma (color) signals 'mixed…' in such a way to transmit them over one pair of cables). S-Video separates these two signals, so it needs four pins -- one pair for the luminance information, and the other pair for chroma information. For more info, please refer to Wikipedia article "S-Video".
Why are ports that have pin connectors are described as a male and ports that have a hole connectors as female?
Cus in the animal world females have holes and males have things that are made to go into those holes
S-video uses two signals each carried by a co-ax cable. There are a total of four connections and some interfaces use a three pin connector and tie together the two screens of… the cable. The three pin solution works well at short distances but is not considered the right way to run long distances.
Reserve pin fool proves the connection by allowing the connection only in a single way.
I believe that the DE-15 connector is the one you're thinking of.
