Theodore Roosevelt, who was in the Department of the Navy in 1898, resigned to become a colonel in the volunteer cavalry called the Rough Riders, which saw action in Cuba. Following the war (which lasted less than four months), Roosevelt was elected Governor of New York state and selected as the running mate of William McKinley in his reelection campaign in 1900. McKinley won, but was assassinated in September, 1901, making Roosevelt the youngest US President in history.
The first and only president to serve a third term was Franklin Roosevelt. He actually served most of a fourth term, but passed away before the term was finished. Congress then quickly passed a law putting term limits on the presidency of two terms.

I don't think there is one. "Prerequisite" might be the nearest answer, although this doesn't necessarily follow the cause/effect nature of a corollary. (A prerequisite exists regardless of the corollary following, whereas the corollary always results from the occurrence of the prerequisite). "Precursor" might be a better antonym.
