Canon Verses NikonBoth my sisters have Nikon digital cameras, and I have a digital Canon Rebel. Personally, I find that the Canon's pictures come out looking better.

But, it's difficult to make a generalisation about this kind of thing, but most people seem to think the Canon compacts are amongst the best one can buy, the Nikon compacts not quite so good. This may be because Canon have a bit more expertise in electronics from their office electronics (printers/faxes/copiers etc).

For SLR cameras, its not really possible to come down on one side or another - Nikon and Canon both make wonderful DSLR cameras; one only has to see press/sport photographers to see how Nikon and Canon dominate professional DSLR. Most pro-photographers will stick with what they are comfortable with; they know they wont go far wrong with either Nikon or Canon. I tried both Nikon and Canon DSLR and chose Nikon - thought the images were slightly better on the Nikon and the Nikon felt slightly more "familiar".

The short answer is: "Depends" The long answer is: Both Canon and Nikon make cameras and lenses that are so good and so reliable that it is impossible to make a statement of which manufacturer makes better cameras (or lenses). If you are looking for a "point and shoot" camera, compare cost, features, and look "on line" for reviews of the specific models you are comparing. Some reviewers include comparisons of actual pictures taken with the camera for the review. If you are looking for a DSLR (digital single lens reflex) camera, in addition to the recommendation noted above, also decide which lens or lenses you will be using. If you need a lens that one manufacturer makes, but the other manufacturer doesn't make, then that answers the question. It also makes a difference in what kind of Photography you will be doing. Each manufacturer has a variety of cameras, at various prices, that fill a variety of niches. Make sure the camera you buy will do the job you need it for, regardless of whether it is a Canon or a Nikon. panasonic lumix are hot now a days

I use a canon 7D and have seen that the clarity of a picture is same as taken on a nikon D90. However, it depends upon how one looks at a camera and a photo taken from a photografer's point of view. To me canon is better than a nikon...

As a manufacturer and in terms of quality of product, neither is better than the other. Both produce a range of products with various features. When choosing a camera, decide which features you need to have and look at the combinations offered by the makers. Nikon, Canon, Olympus, and Pentax all produce quality photographic equipment with a range of features and a record of reliability. There are also many other makers who turn out excellent equipment.

Comparing Canon and Nikon CamerasThough both are excellent brands, I personally like Canon digital cameras more than Nikon.

---------------------------------EDIT---------------------------------------

They're on par with each other - it just depends on personal preference. Being the 2 most popular consumer camera brands, it's likely that they would be compared, but there's really no need for it. The answer to "which brand is better: Canon or Nikon?" will always be NEITHER. No matter how you word the question, the answer will be NEITHER.

It really depends on what you expect out of your camera and what kind of photography you will be performng. Many choose a cannon over a nikon because they are easier to handle and have more features, most professionals choose cannon cameras.

What is the best brand of camera?

The best brand of a camera is Nikon. Definitely Nikon because of the stunning picture quality and I have seen most professionals use Nikon. I'm not a professional and I have a Sony, its okay i guess. But I just take pictures with friends and stuff like that. Canon should be the second best. And DO NOT buy Kodak. I know a friend who has returned five of Kodak cameras! And one who says it always freezes and is blurry. But if you were taking pictures for fun like I do, I'd go with Nikon Coolpix (still from Nikon), Canon or Sony (not sure how great Sony is, but i have one and its not bad). These sources are mostly MY opinion and some are opinions of others.

Which one should you get... Nikon D3100 or Canon Rebel T3i?

We can not say that, that depends on a lot of stuff. Do you already have lenses for Nikon or Canon? People have different meanings about that, do you know someone who has more knowledge about this question than you do? Ask that person, and ask him/her why he finds that. You can also Google it of course, for a lot of opinions. :-)

Can I use my 35mm camera zoom lens on a Nikon Coolpix?

Unfortunately no. With an adapter one can use a Nikon lens on a Canon body, but the distances between lens and register (the critical point in the camera body where the image is recorded) make it impossible to even create an adapter to use Canon lenses on Nikon bodies.
