This idea that bats are unable to see stems from a very well known phase: "as blind as a bat". It is however, untrue. Although a bat cannot see in colour, it can see better than a human at night. They also use their echolocation to gain a better picture of what is around them, which is in many case more accurate and sensitive than an eye, enabling the bat to see very clearly in even the darkest of nights.

Some bats use sonar to locate insects which they feed upon at night, but they are not blind. ________ No they are not actually completely blind. They can see in normal daylight, but are very limited in range.

∙ 14y agoBats in general have bad eyesight, but they are not blind.In laboratory tests, bats have been shown to be able to distinguish shapes and colors. The main reason that people assume bats are blind is that they do hunt at night and they use a form of sonar to navagate, and find their prey.

Yes, Most of the bats are blind. They send some special type of sound with specific frequency, these sounds return back to the bat after heating to any object's,from that return sound they can point out the exact location and distance of object.Frequency are so specific that the bat which send the sound is so comfortable to catch again between a lot of sound frequency.

∙ 10y agoBats have poor eyesight, so they use echo location to navigate. They make chirping sounds by which they can tell when they are near objects due to the time it takes for the sound to echo back to them and the direction from which the echo is coming.
