Thor was actually a Viking god; son to Odin and the Giantess, Jord. His tales were told in the Eddas and Sagas of Norse mythology. He was the god of thunder and his name leant itself to Thursday (Thor's day). As to when he was born; this much is not clear. The stories tell of the birth of each of the Norse gods as actual events, although there is never any mention of specific dates. Much of what is recanted is very fancifull and was more likely written to dramatise the plot rather than record the precise details of individual events. Suffice to say, if Thor had a birth date, it would have been an incredibly long time ago. Just how long is open to interpretation.

Thor is from Scandinavia and definitely wasn't Odin's son. It doesn't make sense. Because the hammer of Thor was made because of the Giant problem we had back then and Odin's father was a giant.

By convention the Viking age is typically delimited to this period :

Year 793 : First recorded raid on convent on the Island of Lindisfarne, England

Year 1066: The defeat of the Invading Norwegian King at Stamford Bridge, England

...which could seem to indicate that Vikings mostly directed their activity towards England - this is NOT the case, it's a coincidence that it's two English events.

The Viking age in European history was about AD 700 to 1100.

The people called Vikings came from what are now the countries of Denmark, Norway and Sweden. Their ancestors were born there from long before AD 700 and their descendants are still being born throughout Europe and North America.

The word Viking in their language at the time (Old Norse) means "pirate raid".
