These cell walls …are bound together with hemicellulose and lignin. Dry wood is about 25% lignin and 20% hemicellulose.. There are many different types of wood. Each type of wood comes from a species of tree, and has a slightly different cell arrangement and proportions of cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin. This combination gives the types of wood their characteristic strength, texture and colour.
