The oldest standing temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (commonly called the "Mormon" church) is in Kirtland, Ohio. This is the first temple built by the church. However, the Kirtland Temple was not used in the same way as modern Mormon temples and was actually not called a 'temple' at the time - it was essentially a meetinghouse or tabernacle. The Kirtland Temple was only owned by the Church for about a decade, it was abandoned when the Mormons moved west to Illinois. The Kirtland Temple is currently owned by the Community of Christ and open for public tours.
Church members then built a temple in Nauvoo, Illinois. However this temple was never totally completed and was destroyed very shortly after the Mormons fled to Utah. The Nauvoo temple was the first temple that was used in the way modern Mormon temples are used (performing baptisms and other ordinances in behalf of the deceased) and therefore is sometimes considered the oldest temple. The Nauvoo Temple was rebuilt in 1999-2002.
However, the most accurate answer to the question is the St. George Utah Temple. The St. George Utah Temple is the oldest continually operating temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was dedicated in 1877 and has been in use ever since.

First, let me explain that in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (commonly called "Mormons"), a "Church" and a "Temple" are not the same thing. A church is used for Sunday worship and congregation activities. These buildings and their services are always open to the public. A Temple is for special worship services, such as weddings. The grounds of Temples are open to the public, but only Church members who have gotten permission from their bishops my go inside.

That being said, the largest Temple (square footage wise) is the Salt Lake Temple, which is 385,000 square feet. The next largest are Los Angeles California (190,614 sq ft) and Washington D.C. (160,000 sq. ft).
The largest Churches are called "Stake Centers". There is one for every 8 or so congregations - so there is at least one in every state. In the U.S. these are all approximately the same size, unless they are shared with area or mission offices. (usually about 20,000 square feet)

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) doesn't have a 'main church'. They have about 29,000 congregations worldwide. Church headquarters is located in Salt Lake City, but consists mostly of an office building and various historic sites. No regular worship services are held there.

The Church does have a large 21,000 seat auditorium at Church headquarters, but services are only held there twice a year for a worldwide conference that is broadcast via sattelite to every other church building. It is not considered a church, since it is not home to a congregation, but is strictly a conference center and performance hall.

There is also a Temple at Church headquarters, which some people think is the 'main church', no regular worship services are held their either. In fact, it has the exact same purpose as the other 140 temples scattered around the world - each are used only for special services such as marriages and baptisms, not Sunday worship.

What Great Lake did Mormons settle near?

Early Mormons began a settlement called Voree (in what is now the city of Burlington) in Wisconsin, near Lake Michigan. This group eventually became cut off from the main body of the Church (largely because of their distance from Church headquarters) and has now become a separate Church. Ironically, they share the official name of the Church, "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints", but are not connected with the 13 million member Church based in Salt Lake City. Members of this group are often called "Strangite Mormons". Or, perhaps you are meaning the other great lake... the Great Salt Lake in Salt Lake City, that the main body of Mormons settled, and are currently based, near. (You can learn more about the Strangite and the mainstream Mormon Church from the "Related Links" below.)

Can Mormons fish?

Yes of course! Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) are welcome to fish, and many enjoy it as a hobby. The Church has no official doctrines or guidelines about fishing. Mormons are asked not to kill animals senselessly, so Mormons who hunt and fish are encouraged to eat what they catch.
