when you pop the hood look at the transmission in the front of the car you will see it bolted in to the transmission just below the exhaust manifold. I have a 99 gst and my starter is under the intake manifold towards the firewall middle of the car. easiest way to access it for me was to remove the battery and the battery tray and you can get to the wiring harness and the 2 bolts pretty easy. Getting out from the underneath is a challenge you have to spin it just right between the frame member and exhaust to get it out but it will come out without unbolting the exhaust from the downpipe.
