The sensor is under the car on the back of the engine on the left side on the 2.4L.
On the 2.5L it is on the top rear of the transmission bell housing.
There is a tone wheel on the crank/flywheel that the sensor reads off of, if that is your question.

Check the crank angle position sensor. It is located on the left side (drivers), at the crank shaft. There is one fastener and an electrical plug to remove the sensor. I found it was easier to get off and back on by removing left front wheel and going through the wheel well.
