The Ranger and Ford Explorer use the same HVAC plenum box and any information on the Explorer is applicable to the Ranger. The actuator motor is located on top of the heater box and you can see it if you fully open the glove box and look in the upper left hand corner on top of the box. Pictures and removal process are described on our Ebay listing or web site at www.heatertreater.net.
The factory repair is very involved with removal of the dash, steering wheel and column, evacuating the AC system, draining radiator, and finally removal of the heater box to access a cheap plastic door. HeaterTreater is an inexpensive kit that replaces the blend door with steel components and is engineered to be installed through dremel cuts made into the heater box. The fix is 100% effective and much easier/cheaper than the dealer.

Probably a faulty blend door actuator. Remove the glove box to gain access to the actuator. Replace the actuator with a new one.
The temperature blend door and actuator is located in the HVAC box which is located behind the dash assembly. The dash assembly must be removed to gain access to the temp blend door actuator for replacement.
