The blend door on the 97 Cherokee is DC motor actuated and the motor is located on the bottom of the plenum box on the passenger side. ∙ 15y ago1998 was a crossover year for Jeep. The actuator is located on either the bottom of the box, or the front(visible through the glove box opening). The solution to blend door problems is different dependent on which style heater box you have. Why are you getting hot air on the passengers side and cold air on the drivers side of your 1999 jeep grand Cherokee?
The "blend" doors have broken in the dash. You will need to have the entire dash removed and the blend door replaced. You should also have the recuirculation door replaced because it is prone to breaking too.
