Acts 11:1-18 tells of how Peter had a vision in which he saw four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, reptiles, and birds. He heard a voice saying "Get up, Peter. Kill and eat." Peter objected, saying that he had never eaten anything impure or unclean (and did not intend to do so). The voice responded and said not to call anything impure that God has made clean.

This happened three times, after which some men arrived at his door, inviting him to eat at their master's house. Peter went with them, and brought to them the message of Christ. Verse 18 says "When they [the apostles and brothers of Jerusalem mentioned in verse 1] heard this, they had no further objections and praised God, saying 'So then, God has granted even the Gentiles repentance unto life.'"

The passage above, of course, was a vision that taught Peter not to call MEN "unclean" anymore... not that the physical nature of creatures in God's list of unclean meats in Leviticus 11 suddenly changed, and that they were suddenly (poof, it's a miracle) healthy for man to consume.

"...Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any MANcommon or unclean." (Acts 10:28)

Nor is it that Jews or any man "can't" eat vile things that are unfit for human consumption if they want to. A person CANeat anything he wants to. That's part of the joy and wonder of man's "free moral agency," which God has granted him... his ability to make choices to obey or disobey, based on the information given to man in The Bible... God's "maintenance manual" for the unkeep, smooth running and longevity of the product.

His Creator has informed man as to what is fit to eat and what isn't. The information is for the edification of the man... for wisdom, knowledge and understanding in what meats are inclusive in a "healthy diet."

No one HAS to eat these healthy meats. We are totally free to eat whatever we wish (subject to local and civil laws, of course). Plus... there is always the option of the all veggie diet.

It's all a matter of maintaining "good health"... not a "religious exercise."

Acts 11:1-18 is talking about not calling man unclean.

In Leviticus 11, God tells us that we should eat kosher.

It is both healthier for you and it is obeying God.
