Child abuse is a broad term and goes all the gamut from minor punitive sanctions that by the way, we would never inflict on an adult ( for example Knuckle Soup) which was widely practiced by some teachers. the teachers were crafty about weapons used so the penalty shot or swat would be painful but not leave telltale scars, welts etc. still it was widely used. Imagine a traffic cop doing the same- no way. In a related vein there is a widespread practice of having kids on gang-leashes, which resemble harnessing for draft animals- and then say 20-odd toddlers being marched about like draft animals. I don"t recall anything remotely like this as a kid, and it does not seem to be a punitive tactic, but one uniformly applied. Day Care centers do this all the time. then, bottom of the gutter, reckless assaults and even murders such as Jon Bent Ramsey and others, ALL CHILD ABUSE IS WRONG!
