In Australia each branch has its own BSB number. Often, a single type of account - regardless of branch, such as home loans or personal loans - will share a unique BSB number.

The format of the BSB number is as follows: The First two digits specify the parent financial institution, the third digit specifies the state where the branch is located and the fourth, fifth and sixth digits specify the branch. For example, the BSB 033088 actually breaks down into the following. 03 = Westpac Banking Corporation

3 = Victoria

088 = 383 Chapel Street, Prahran

Your BSB numbers for personal accounts is normally attached to your bank statement and is usually (but not always) printed before your account number.

The only web site that updates their data daily (I work in a bank) is www.bsbnumbers.com where you can conduct a search of your number, or find your BSB numbers via other known variables.
