There are a great many people who produce high quality, professional fursuits (also called "animal suits" "animal costumes" or "mascot suits") for a living. A full-body costume can easily cost $500-$5,000 or more. Fully custom suits will generally be at the higher end of that spectrum.

There are a number of fursuit makers who maintain websites or profiles in online communities. Besides custom shops, you may also try a specialty costume or party retailer. Online auctions are also a good source for a fursuit, particularly if you'd like to find something second-hand or gently used.

A few fursuit buying resources are posted in the related links (see below).

Some examples of fursuit makers are:

Mixedcandy: Specialises in 'toony' suits, has been around forever and makes really high quality stuff: http://www.mixedcandy.com

Magpiebones: Excellent realistic costumes(Not sure if she has a website), lots of neat little odds and ends: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/magpiebones

Artslave: Does mostly scary and stylised stuff, good prices- will take up challenging commissions no problem(Does not maintain a website): http://www.furaffinity.net/user/Artslave

The Furducers make full-bodied fursuits for $800+. At least it's not like some prices that go up to $1,500.

CursingL: this might also help other people. http://forums.furaffinity.net/showthread.php?t=51194

You might find some at a Halloween store.

CursingL, you can't have external links. Someone flag him. *is a tattletale*

You should first check your local fabric store (JoAnn's, or other such store). If you can find what you want there chances are it will be a lot cheaper (partly because there are no shipping fees). If they do not have what you want there then there are several sites on-line who sell furs. A lot of these store will send samples either free or very cheap. It is recommended to have a sample sent before buying the fabric so that you can see its actually color as the computer screen's color setting may make it look different than it actually is.

Anthro costumes, more commonly known as fursuits, are used by hobbyists who partake in fursuiting. The most common way to acquire a fursuit is to commission a fursuit maker. Most suits that are done by commission are done custom to fit the design of a character that you made. Maker will however to commissions on artistic liberty suits, sometimes working with a color pallet or theme choses by the commissioner.
Another way to get a fursuit would be to check online auctions. Online auctions would not allow you to have the suit custom made but it would be cheaper.
If you are into furry conventions you are bound to find at least one suit of not more there. Again as these suits are already made it would not allow for it to be custom made to your character.
It is important to note that fursuits are expensive. Partial suits (head, paws and tail) usually start at around $500, some of the more expensive makers charge this much for the head alone. Full body suits start around $2000. There is also care and maintenance to keeping a fursuit.
Please treat fursuiters kindly, they are people in those costumes. Many of these people paid a good bit of money for them as well.

Where can you buy a fursuit that you can re color?

It is kind of a challenge to find faux fur that can be changed with clothes dye. If you plan to air brush your fursuit then just purchasan all white one of one which is a solid light color. It would however be much easier to just order your fursuit already colored.

Why do some furries stop talking when they put on a fursuit?

Talking in a fursuit usually sounds muffled and out-of-character, so most fursuiters tend not to talk in fursuit unless they're not performing. It also ruins th efect if they don't have a moving jaw on their suit.

Does Tulsa have a fursuit store?

Most places don't really have fursuit stores. There may be a maker based out of that city but it isn't really a store. Most makers just work out of a separate room of their home dedicated to their fursuits. The best way to acquire a fursuit is to find a maker whose style you like and commission them to make your suit. If you want a fursuit but are not to specific with how you want it to look you could commission an artistic liberty suit. If you want your suit as quickly as possible there are online auctions and sales for pre-made suits, some of which may be pre-owned.

Where can you buy a full or partial fursuit for quite cheap?

It depends what you mean by cheap. Typically you can get a partial for $200(cheap end) to $650 (Median) to $1000 (pricey). I'm not really sure of anyone who does $200ish partials professionally. New people interested in fursuit making will often make trial fursuits for people for just materials costs alone! This ranges from $200-500, but look around.
