Pumpkins are native to North America and are grown in gardens and fields. The seeds are planted in small hills(mounds) about 18-24in. apart. Sometimes these areas are referred to as pumpkin patches. The vines spread over a large area and the pumpkins sit on the ground and get larger until they ripen.
Pumpkins now grow on every inhabited continent.
They grow from seeds and form large vines on the ground. The fruits form from flowers in many places on the vine, and grow larger until they ripen. They can be very large and heavy, weighing up to hundreds of pounds. Most are in the range of a few kilograms and between 10 and 20 inches across (about 25 to 50 cm).
They are found in a pumpkin patch. They are native to the Americas, the most familiar species being in North America.
Pumpkins are available in stores during the Halloween time. Either that or you can get them on a farm.
The bulk of US pumpkin production is centered in and around the state of Illinois, though small farms grow some all over the nation.
They don't grow in the world. Pumpkins grow on the moon and are brought down by a space ship.

Yes pumpkins are grown in Alaska. The best known pumpkins that are grown in Alaska are the Atlantic Giant Pumpkins. The record in Alaska for one of these extremely large pumpkins is 1780 lbs in 2011. Though the coldest state in the US, growers seem to agree that the sunlight and cooler summer temperatures grows them large in Alaska. The sun is available in some towns in Alaska 24 hours a day during the summer. Alaska holds more large vegetable records than any other state.
