The fuel pump inertia switch is a safety item that shuts off the electric fuel pump if your Explorer is in a collision . If the switch is tripped , and you don't see gas leaking or smell gas , push the button down on top of the switch to reset it , that will restore power to the fuel pump

There is no fuel pump reset button on that vehicle.
In the front passenger footwell , by the kick panel
The fuel pump inertia switch is a safety device that " breaks " the electrical circuit to the electric fuel pump so no power flows to the electric fuel pump. This is supposed to happen when the vehicle suffers a signifigant jolt such as being in a collision or perhaps hitting a really bad pothole . The switch has to be manually reset by pushing the button down
In the luggage area behind one of the panels, either on the right or left, there is a little box with a red button on it. Push that button. It is the fuel pump safety cutoff relay reset. If you hit a pothole hard, or hit something while driving, it cuts the pump off.
Remove the side panel under the dashboard on the passenger side. You will find a safety module mounted to the sidewall. Remove the safety switch, push the reset button and reinstall. Hope this helps.... Often times, if the airbags were deployed, you will need to replace the inertia switch found on the front bumper, beneath the cover. As to my experience with the module in the pass. kick panel, pushing that button resets the fuel pump...also necessary to do when in an accident. More times than not, there is a hole to slip your finger through to push the button. Removing the kick panel is usually not necessary.
On a 1998 Ford Crown Victoria : The fuel pump shut off switch ( inertia switch ) is in the trunk , behind the trunk liner on the drivers side . I believe that has a red button on top . If the button has popped up then no power is going to the electric fuel pump It's a safety device that shuts off the electric fuel pump if you are involved in a substantial collision or maybe if you hit a really bad pothole
