The main area of public open space is 'The Meadows', just to the south of the city centre about 15 minutes walk from the train station and Princes Street. You can have BBQs here, but make sure you place the BBQ on a brick or hard surface to protect the grass.

Holyrood Park (Arthur's Seat) is another large open space, but it is owned by the Royal Fmaily, so BBQ at your own risk!
