35mm camera's are not as common as they once were, the age of digital cameras has taken over much of the market. However one can still purchase 35mm cameras at BestBuy and any local store that sells Canons, Leicas and other such brands.

You can still get film cameras, although at this point they no longer have significant advantages over Professional grade Digital cameras. Without knowing where you are we can't recommend a physical store, but you can get 35mm cameras online at Amazon.com, RitzCamera.com and numerous other websites.

Go to nextag.com. Just search 35mm slide scanner, and it will give you a list of places that sell them, and compare what prices different places sell them at.

If you take out the lens of your camera having the film inside does it damage the film?

Your typical 35 mm SLR is designed to have the lenses changed while the film is in the camera, so it won't hurt a thing. I suppose it's possible that there is a camera out there that doesn't allow the lens to be changed mid-roll, but it's not likely. Usually the shutter is behind the lens, so no light will fall on the film from changing the lens.

Best canon SLR lens for shooting group photos?

On a full-frame (or film) camera, a 24 mm would work just fine. If necessary, going wider, with a 16-35 or 17-40 would work, but at the wider ends tend to cause distortion, especially at the edges.

Hot to photograph from a digital camera using a telescope?

Interesting question. Used to be that with the SLR cameras like a 35 mm. film camera, you just adjusted the focus on the lens to a full distance setting and then placed it at the eyepiece of the 'scope. With the newer digital cameras, you just might want to try a full zoom. Since you have an electronic viewfinder, you'll soon know if it'll work.
