Here is something you can try. Go to the hardware store and get a conduit mounting clamp that fits your shaft size, then get an eye bolt, You will need two nuts for the eye bolt. mount the clamp on the shaft, put one nut on the eye bolt and insert it in to the other hole, putting the secong nut on the bottom, tighten the two nuts, clip on your strap you should be good to go.
