I had back surgery Oct. 30, 2007 (diskectomy L3/L4). While is have been off work, I have received a check from the company insurance company that is 60% of my full pay. However, you should know that NO taxes are taken out of the 60% and that you will NOT HAVE TO PAY ANY TAXES ON THIS INCOME EITHER TO STATE OR FEDERAL AT THE END OF THE TAX YEAR. In other words, I receive 60% of my regular gross pay and pay NO taxes on this income. This is in South Carolina.
The state of PA for workmens comep. Is considered a nofault state. Once they receive the claim from your imployers, the co. that you worked for is nolonger involved in paying you your salary. You should receive 66 and 1/3 of your salary, considered lost wages. You need to be off of work for at leasted one week before you start receiving workmen comp. checks.
You need to check with your state on that one. Start with your local DOL office and see what they say about it. The DOL (Department of Labor) Office is one who write the rules in each state which governs full time and part time as well as workmans comp. Myself I was on workmans comp for 1 hour 2x a week for a month and my boss didnt say a word. Then again I was only leaving 30 minutes early each day.
Players placed on IR are still paid by the team. Most players have a down amount that is less than their full salary and that is what they are paid while on IR.
you must file a workers comp. claim
