The watchmaker Bulova paid for a placement on New York station WNBT before a Baseball game between the Brooklyn Dodgers and Philadelphia Phillies.
This 10-second spot displayed a picture of a clock superimposed on a map of the United States, accompanied by the voice-over "America runs on Bulova time.
Hence from there on in, the US cannot enjoy more than 10 minutes of show time.

∙ 12y agoFirst TV advert USA was shown on 1st July 1941. Bulova Watches paid the princely sum of $4 to place a 10 second advert on New Yorks WNBT just before the start of a baseball game.
The first TV advert broadcast in the UK was on ITV on 22 September 1955, advertising Gibbs SR Toothpaste.
