The Qur'an was written over a long period of time. The inception of many aspects of the Qur'an have been placed in pre-Islamic times and its final version was not collected in its current form until around the 8th Century

Answer

The Qur'an was written by scribes who wrote as Muhammad spoke. These notes were written down on anything that was close to hand. After Muhammad died Abu-Bakr & Umar set the canon but it was not for another 100 or so years that the various suras were collated into the form that it is today.

The quran was written over a period of twenty three years from the beginning of revelation to the year Mohammed pbuh died. the quran has a feature of being remembered easily; there was no need to collect it , however, the quran was collected in one set at the time of Abu Bakr three years after Mohamed's pbuh death. Nothing of quran's aspects existed in pre Islamic times. though the current shape that the quran has is irrelevant to the content. the shape includes the exiestence of what is called vocal movements, sign's that indicate how a certain letter should sound like.

A:In 610, Muhammad reported that he had begun receiving revelations, which he passed on to others. He began preaching amd winning converts in 612. Most Muslims believe these revelations came from the angel Gabriel and that an entire copy of the Quran existed in heaven since creation.

After Muhammad's death in 632 CE, there was no collection of his revelations. Consequently, many of his followers tried to gather all the known revelations and write them down in codex form. Soon there were codices of several scholars. As Islam spread, there were variants known as the Metropolitan Codices in Mecca, Medina, Damascus, Kufa and Basra. For orthodox Muslims of today, the Quran we have is the one that was established under the third caliph, Uthman (644-656), in the seventh century. Muslim orthodoxy holds that Uthman's Quran contains all of the revelation delivered to the community faithfully preserved without change or variation.

The Koaran was written by Mohammad in approximately 645 AD. The Koran is the last testament from God, as delivered to Mohammad by the angel Gabriel in a cave overlooking the area Mohammad was living in. That is the modern city of Mecca.

Mulsim bookmakers printed the Koran in about 750 A. D. Muhammad spread the word of God that he received from Gabriel. The word was passed out, and then Muslims began to record the word.

What is the Quran?

Al-Quran is the eternal miracle. It is the last Book of Allah sent for the guidance of humanity through the last Prophet, Muhammad, peace be upon him (PBUH).

Revelation of the Quran

The Quran was revealed piecemeal throughout a period of about 23 years. The Prophet received the first revelation in 610CE, in the Cave of Hira in the Mountain of Light (Jabale-Noor), two and a half miles away from the House of Allah in the city of Makkah in Arabia.

The first revelation was the first five verses of Surah (chapter) Al-Alaq: "Iqra bismi rabbikalla dhi khalaq. Khalaqal insana min alaq. Iqra WA rabbukal akram. Alladhi 'allama bil qalam. 'Allamal insana malam ya'lam, " which means "Read in the name of your Lord who created, created man from a clot. Read, for your Lord is most Generous, Who teaches by means of the pen, teaches man what he does not know." (96: 1-5)

The last revelation was the third verse of Surah Al-Maidah, which was sent down to the Prophet in 632 C.E. : "Al yawma akmaltu lakum dinakam WA atmamtu alaikam ni'mati WA raditu' lakumul islama dinan''," which means "Today I perfected your religion for you and completed my favor to you and have chosen for you Al-Islam as your religion." (5:3)

Surah Al-Fatiha (The Opening Chapter) was the first complete chapter to be revealed and Surah An-Nasr was the last.

7 Reasons to Read the Glorious Quran

(1) Intimate:

It dares you to disprove it. How? It says that humans can not write a book like this even if they pooled all their resources together and got help also from the spirits. The Quran said this fourteen hundreds years ago and yet no one has been able to disprove it. Billions of books have been written - but not another one like the Quran.

(2) Incorruptible:

It is the only religious sacred writing which has been in circulation for such a long time and yet remains as pure as it was in the beginning. The Quran was kept intact. Nothing was added to it; nothing was changed in it; and nothing was taken away from it ever since it was completely revealed 1400 years ago.

(3) Unsurpassable:

The Quran is God's final revelation to humankind. God revealed the Torah to Moses, the Psalms to David, the Gospel to Jesus, and finally the Quran to Muhammad. Peace be upon all of them. No other book will come from God to surpass his final revelation.

(4) Indisputable:

The Quran withstands the test of time and scrutiny. No one can dispute the truth of this book. It speaks about past history and turns out right. It speaks about the future in prophecies and it turns out right. It mentions details of physical phenomena which were not known to people at the time; yet later scientific discoveries confirm that the Quran was right all along. Every other book needs to be revised to accord with modern knowledge. The Quran alone is never contradicted by a modern discovery.

(5) Your Roadmap for Life and Afterlife:

The Quran is the best guidebook on how to structure your life. No other book presents such a comprehensive system involving all aspects of human life and endeavor. The Quran also points out the way to secure everlasting happiness in the afterlife. It is your roadmap showing how to get to paradise.

(6) God's Gift of Guidance:

God has not left you alone. You were made for a reason. God tells you why he made you, what he demands from you, and what he has in store for you. If you operate a machine contrary to it's manufacture specification you will ruin that machine. What about you? Do you have an owner's manual for you? The Quran is from your function for success lest you fail to function. It is a healing mercy from God. It satisfies the soul, and cleans the heart. It removes doubts and brings peace.

(7) Your Calling Card to Communicate with God:

Humans are social creatures. We love to communicate with other intelligent life. The Quran tells us how to communicate with the source of all intelligence and the source of all life- the One God. The Quran tells us who God is, by what name we should address God, and the way in which to communicate with God. Are these not seven sufficient reasons for reading the Quran?

Answer 1: Islamic View

The Quran was revealed by God not at once all together. and consequently not written all together at one point. The revelation of Quran by God to Prophet Mohamed was through the Angel Gabriel and started in year 610 AD and was completed by year 632. Through these 22 year period it was fully memorized by many of Muslims, documented and revised by many, and it was recited in the mosque by prophet Mohamed during the daily five prayers without single letter change. Many Muslims since then until now are memorizing Quran fully without a single letter difference.

In addition, God revelation of Quran to prophet Muhammad was in the same language (Arabic) that is still a live language used by millions of Muslims and non Muslims all over the world. This helped, besides memorizing Quran by heart and Quran repetitive citations in daily praying, in maintaining Quran text unchanged over centuries since Quran first revelation without a single word change or addition. This is not the case with other holy book texts that were written hundreds of years after relevant prophet death and were written in languages different than the original revelation languages that are no longer live languages. This made the texts of other Holy books subject to alterations and additions by many contributors.

Answer 2: Islamic View

Quran remains unchanged. no one could ever produce a substantial evidence to prove that Quran hs changed. The word 'Quran' refers to "to be recited". Actually Quran is preserved in the memories of millions. If one(i.e a despot) decides to destroy all the copies of the quran it will be reproduced within hours from the memories of millions.what is more. even little children nowadays detects even the slightest copying errors in the Quran ! Indeed It is We who revealed the Reminder(Quran) Surely We will protect it.(Quran 15/9)

Quran is not a human written or human made text. Quran is the Muslim holy book that reflects the real God (Allah) words revelation to prophet Muhammad (PBUH) through the Angel Gabriel (Jibril). God revelation of Quran started in year 610 AD and continued through year 632 AD (year of prophet Muhammad death).

Answer 3: Secular Historical View

Some scholars, independently, have concluded that the Qur'an was not written by Muhammad and is a document that changed over a very long period. "Almost universally, independent scholars studying the Qur'an and Hadith, have concluded that the Islamic scripture was not revealed to just one man, but was a compilation of later redactions and editions formulated by a group of men, over the course of a few hundred years. The Qur'an which we read today is not that which was in existence in the mid-seventh century, but is a product of the eighth and ninth centuries. It was not conceived in Mecca or Medina, but in Baghdad. It was then and there that Islam took on its identity and became a religion. Consequently, the formative stage of Islam was not within the lifetime of Muhammad but evolved over a period of 300 years." This is the opinion of renowned scholars and professors of Islam, history, Arabic and many other fields. Among them - Dr. John Wansbrough, American historian who taught at London University's School of Oriental and African Studies; Professor Joseph Schacht, professor of Arabic and Islam at Columbia University in New York and a leading Western scholar of Islamic law; Dr. Patricia Crone, a scholar, author and historiographer of early Islamic history working at the Institute for Advance Study; R. Stephen Humphreys, professor of history and Islamic studies at the University of California at Santa Barbara; and Professor Andrew Rippin, professor of history and specialist in Islamic studies at the University of Victoria, B.C., Canada Again, more expert opinion believes the Qur'an to be a cocktail of myth, Jewish folklore, Jewish and Christian scripture and Muhammad's own imagination. As well as this, the Qur'an is mostly incomprehensible contrary to its claim to be comprehensible. Source: Gerd Puin, a German scholar and the world's foremost authority on Qur'anic paleography, the study and scholarly interpretation of ancient manuscripts. He is a specialist in Arabic calligraphy: "My idea is that the Koran is a kind of cocktail of texts that were not all understood even at the time of Muhammad. Many of them may even be a hundred years older than Islam itself. Even within the Islamic traditions there is a huge body of contradictory information, including a significant Christian substrate; one can derive a whole Islamic anti-history from them if one wants. The Qur'an claims for itself that it is 'mubeen,' or clear, but if you look at it, you will notice that every fifth sentence or so simply doesn't make sense. Many Muslims will tell you otherwise, of course, but the fact is that a fifth of the Qur'anic text is just incomprehensible. This is what has caused the traditional anxiety regarding translation. If the Qur'an is not comprehensible, if it can't even be understood in Arabic, then it's not translatable into any language. That is why Muslims are afraid. Since the Qur'an claims repeatedly to be clear but is not-there is an obvious and serious contradiction. Something else must be going on."

Within the Muslim religion it is believed that the Quran took about 23 years to be created. Its creator, Muhammad, started writing it on December 22 of 609 CE and it was completed in 632 CE.
