Chrysler's company expanded rapidly over the years but in the late 1970's was on the verge of bankruptcy. The company returned to profitability in the 1980's under the management of CEO Lee Lacocca. Chrysler merged with Daimler-Benz AG in 1998. IN 2008-2010, Chrysler received government loans to prevent bankruptcy with the United States and Canadian governments as partial owners.
