Jekyll and Hyde are 2 characters in the book "Jekyll and Hyde" (a bit obvious, eh?)
Where the original character, Jekyll makes a potion in which it carries out in a person their most evil being or state thus creating and calling himself Hyde. So basically the potion creates dual personalities in which one is good(normal) and the other which is totally evil^^

Dr. Jekyll is a respected scientist who creates a potion that unleashes his darker alter ego, Mr. Hyde. Mr. Hyde represents the evil side of Dr. Jekyll's personality and commits heinous acts without remorse. The story explores the duality of human nature and the consequences of suppressing one's inner demons.

Dr. Jeckyll is a fictional character, not a real person, therefore he has no real life dates. sometimes, science fictional characters have elaborate paper biography data- in the more hard-core space sagas, but not here. He is obviously a middle-aged man-perhaps in his fifties- when the story takes place. It is not clear what his medical specialty was. He was NOT a Pyschiatrist.

I would like to also add that the first sentence of chapter 10 says "he was born in the year 18-." it doesnt say the rest of the year, just the 18 part.

The answer is not Mary Shelley, as previously stated, because she wrote Frankenstein. By 'creator,' I'd assume you meant author which, in this case, is Robert Louis Stevenson.
