Born again Christians started when Jesus rose from the dead, having taken all peoples sins on him when he died, three days previous. He told us that no sacrifices are in order, that the perfect Lamb of God has been sacrificed. John 3:3-5 -Jesus answered and said to him, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." Nicodemus said to Him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?" Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.""Born again Christian" has almost become a catchphrase for a particular "brand" of Christianity, but Jesus taught that it was necessary if one was to "see the kingdom of God." Being born again is and always has been a fundamental doctrine of New Testament Christianity. "Born of water and the Spirit" is a clear reference to baptism, as borne out by Peter in his sermon on the Day of Pentecost. Acts 2:38 - Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." AnswerActually the concept of 'being born again' was instituted by Our Lord himself. This is recorded in John's gospel, Chapter 3:

"Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus who was a member of the Jewish ruling council. He came to Jesus at night and said, "Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him."

Jesus replied, "Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again."

"How can someone be born when they are old?" Nicodemus asked. "Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother's womb to be born!"

Jesus answered, "Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, 'You must be born again.' "

Sadly, some Christians call themselves 'born again' Christians to differentiate between themselves and other Christians as if the others were not 'true' Christians, The fact is that accepting Jesus as one's Lord and Saviour and accepting the Holy Spirit dwelling within you means that all Christians are 'born again' in the true sense of the words.

The Imitation of Christ is a Catholic book. I'm not sure of the relationship between born-again Christians, fundamentalists, and Catholics. I think they are separate.

Are the born again Christians the only saved people?

A:Unless born-again Christians believe they are the only saved people, one should wonder why they set themselves apart from other Christians. On the other hand, all other Christians believe they are 'saved', or will be saved, so for them the answer must surely be 'no'. Who knows, maybe the atheists are right after all, and salvation has no real meaning.

Where does a born again Christian's soul go after death?

If there is a heaven and if people have souls, then a born again Christian's soul goes to heaven, just as the souls of other Christians do. If there is no heaven, then it makes no difference to be a born again Christian.
