Sweden has been a constitutional monarchy since 1866. After 1975, the Swedish legislature, the Riksdag, officially become the sole legislative power in Sweden (no longer sharing the power of law making with the King, although the Kings power had long been symbolic before 1975).

Women in Sweden could vote already back in 1718, however only if they were widows (no longer under the control of the husband). Starting 1921 all women were allowed to vote.
