The first atomic bomb was detonated by the US Army on July 16th, 1945. (code name "trinity"). , the US Army Air Forces then proceeded to drop an atomic bomb on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima on August 6th, 1945, and then Nagasaki on August 9th, 1945. Thankfully, no nuclear weapons have been used in warfare ever since... The Soviet Union successfully tested their first atomic bomb on august 29th, 1949...
