If you are not allergic and only one stings you, you may feel burning and swelling. On the other hand, if you are stung hundreds of time by a swarm, you could die. Small amounts of toxins found in bee venom, which may be extremely harmful to an individual causing a rapid immune response resulting in death - otherwise just burning due to the venom.
