We are outside of their calling area...but seriously we are an insignificant little planet orbiting a small yellow sun on one of the outer bands of an ordinary looking spiral galaxy, and our galaxy is one of trillions of galaxies moving away from each other at nearly the speed of light. Assuming there are a few other intelligent races out there and they somehow are able to exceed the physical limit of the speed of light, it would take thousands of years to reach us, even assuming they knew of our existence. The term "needle in a haystack" doesn't even begin to remotely compare to the chance any intelligent, non-hostile alien species would be able to reach our neck of the back-woods before we or they become extinct.
