The Hundred Year's War (1337-1453) is usually separated into 4 individual wars:

1. The Edwardian War (1337-1360)

  • The Edwardian War ended with the signing of the Treaty of Brétigny in 1360. Peace ensued for nine years.

2. The Caroline War (1369-1389)

  • The Truce of Leulingham officially ended the Caroline War, and another period of peace lasted until 1415.

3. The Lancastrian War (1415-1429)

  • No peace was made between the Lancastrian War and the appearance of Joan of Arc.

4. Fourth Phase (1429-1453)

  • This war is not named officially. It is sometimes grouped together with the Lancastrian War. It is characterized as the appearance of Joan of Arc in 1429.
