A very interesting topic for speculation.

Here are a few results that I can think of:

-- If you use a little dish on the corner of your house for your TV, then your TV would all go dark.

-- The GPS in your car wouldn't work. Neither would the GPS in your cellphone, or in all the field operations

in Iraq and Afghanistan.

-- After a while, the cellphone, 3G and 4G systems would all start dropping, once the GPS reference signals

become unavailable to synchronize the 'simulcast' systems and their extensive frequency re-use.

-- The TV weatherman, as well as all the weather websites, would pretty much be out of business.

They could continue forecasting all they want, but without most of the data they need to assemble

their forecasts with, any forecast out past tomorrow afternoon would be pure guesswork.

-- There would be no live news reports from 'correspondents' on other continents. A lot of the

live news reporting just within the US would also go away.

-- All of the distribution of long-distance telephone, radio, and TV networks that has been

taken off of terrestrial microwave and gone to satellite links rather than fiber would go away.

-- Forget about all the point-of-sale VSAT networks linking the gas-station chains. Not only

couldn't they tell when was the last time you bought a quart of milk from their store, they

probably couldn't even verify your credit card.

-- Your Sirius/XM satellite radio in your car would shut down.

-- The US couldn't watch what's going at the nuclear plants in Iran, North Korea, Russia, etc.

-- When you go to check in at the airport for a flight, pick up a rental car, or check into a hotel,

none of those people could find any record of your reservation, or validate your credit card.

Those are the first few that I can think of right at the moment.

Why doesn't gravity pull the artificial satellites to Earth?

Gravity pulls the satellites but the orbiting satellites don't fall down towards earth because the speed with which they move balances the gravitational force i.e. Centripetal force = Gravitational force.

Should there be a limit placed on the number of satellites that are allowed to orbit the earth?

Yes because there are already 7,400 unused satellites orbiting Earth as we speak. Some fall down to Earth like metores. Some hit other satellites. There should be a limit.

What would happen if satellites were destroyed?

probably ever thing will be shut down all electricity and some vehicle which are guided by satellite will crash almost everything will be shut down. even some gun military scope that are powered by satellites will be shutdown. all the ship will be lost in seas. and it will take years to get back normal.

What will happen when a satellite falls down?

When satellites fall out of orbit, they usual burn up upon entering the earth's atmosphere.

Why doun't satellites fall from the sky?

Interestingly enough the sattelites are doing their level best at falling from the sky. The whole idea is that at orbital velocity the objects move forward fast enough that they continously miss the Earth as they fall down. In the ideal case satellites are in orbit. This means that they circle the Earth at a specific speed and a specific height. Because satellites aren't in Earth's atmosphere nothing slows them down. If they did slow down it would reduce the height they orbit at. If the height were reduced they would encounter thicker air which would slow them down more, which would lower their height more. This cycle would continue until they crashed. In actuality the satellites do slow down very slowly because the air is not totally absent. Eventually all satellites will fall from the sky.

Why it is important for satellites be outside the earth's atmosphere?

Air resistance. if in air they would slow down and fall.

What would happen if you fell down?

You might get hurt.

What would happen if a cow came falling down from space?

It won't happen....But would be pretty funny and creepy if it did though!

How many satellite stay in orbit?

Precise numbers of "spy satellites" are unavailable, and constantly changing. Dozens, certainly. There are several different types of "spy satellites". There are photographic reconnaissance satellites, designed to take detailed photos of the surface. There are electronic surveillance satellites, designed to capture and record electronic signals such as radios.

Are satellites dangerous?

no beacause it wont fall down into the earth
