as most women were not put through education, they wouldn't have met many men. when they did, the woman were usually very young in their teens, and the men in their 20's. men would have to make their status higher to then catch a woman, hence why they're older than a female. rich girls and boys usually met in balls or dinner parties. a girl would have to obey her father, who would usually demand who she marries, and no questions asked. some felt that their first love was their ONLY love and will never love anyone else. it was okay for a man to have an affair, but a disgrace for a woman to have an affair. marraige was a highstatus booster, so most girls got married young..
